GENERAL
1. The Lifeguard is in charge at all times and has full authority to enforce all rules, both written and unwritten.

2. No glass containers are allowed inside the pool area. Glass containers are only allowed in the clubhouse.

3. No pets are allowed inside the pool area.

4. Horseplay, such as running, pushing, dunking, or excessive splashing is strictly prohibited. Any activity, which, in the sole discretion of the lifeguard, is deemed inappropriate, is prohibited.

5. Swimmers should shower prior to entering the pool.  Playing around the shower / hose is prohibited.

6. Admission to the pool may be refused to anyone with infectious disease, sores, or rashes.

7. Profanity, improper behavior, or vulgar remarks are strictly forbidden.

8. Children are required to be at least ten years of age and be able to pass a swim test before being allowed admission to the pool without an accompanying adult or baby-sitter.Emergency phone numbers where parents can be reached must be on file before the lifeguards before a child can come to the pool unattended. At the discretion of the lifeguards, or the Board, a child may not be allowed admission to the pool without supervision of a parent or guardian, regardless of the child’s age.

9. Flotation devices for children (such as arm floats) are not safety devices. Adult supervision is required to ensure the safety of children using these devices. A child wearing a flotation device may not use the diving board unless an adult is in the diving well to assist the child.

10. Lifeguards may prohibit the use of recreational floats when the pool is crowded.

11. Calling for “Help” when not in need of help is strictly forbidden. Infraction of this rule will result in removal from the pool for a period of no less than two hours, and may be longer at the discretion of the lifeguard.

12. Lifeguard stands/chairs are off limits to all but the lifeguards. Lifeguards should not be disturbed or talked to while on the stand/chair unless absolutely necessary. Lifeguards cannot accept phone calls, unless there is an emergency, while on the stand or chair.

13. Diving is permitted only in water more than 5 feet deep. No running starts on dives, cartwheels, or other stunts are permitted prior to entering the water.

14. “Adult Swim” (or “break”) will be called once each hour for fifteen minutes, always beginning 45 minutes after the hour. Only people 18 years or older are allowed in the pool during Adult Swim. Adults may have infants in the pool under their supervision during Adult Swim.

15. Facilities other than the pool itself, e.g. play equipment, volleyball court, are not monitored. Members and guests use those facilities at their own risk.

16. Lifeguards have the authority to change rules for the purposes of ensuring safety. Lifeguards should be obeyed at all times. Disobedience or disregard of a lifeguard’s instruction will result in immediate removal from the pool for a period of at least two hours.

BABY POOL / YOUNG SWIMMERS
17. The baby pool is not guarded and parents must be responsible for children in the baby pool. The baby pool is for the use of infants and very small children (four years old and younger) and should not be used by older children as a place to play during Adult Swim. The baby pool should not be used to rinse sand off on the way from the volleyball court to the pool.

18. All children three (3) years of age and younger are required to wear an approved swim diaper and plastic pants that have tight fitting elastic legs and waist. Children three (3) years of age and younger will not be allowed in the pool without a proper swim diaper and plastic pants.

EATING / DRINKING
19. The clubhouse refrigerator and microwave is for everyone’s use. Please take home leftover food or drinks at the end of the day. Items left in the refrigerator will be thrown away. Members should assist in keeping the clubhouse kitchen and appliances clean.

20. Alcoholic beverages are permitted (only in cans or plastic containers) a poolside. Georgia law prohibits the use of alcohol by persons younger than 21 years of age. The lifeguard has the right to ask for identification in order to enforce this rule. Underage persons violating this rule will be asked to leave the pool for the rest of the day.

21. Littering is prohibited. There are numerous trashcans and recycling bins around the pool. Please help keep the area clean.

VISITORS
22. A fee of $3.00 per day should be paid for each “in-town” visitor with a maximum limit of $10.00 per family per day. Out of town “house guests” are not required to pay a visitor’s fee.

23. Members are required to sign in each visitor in the Visitor Log and pay the Junior Guard upon entering the pool.

24. Visitors who reside in the Northumberland area, as defined by the Board of Directors, are permitted visits three times a season. Board members receive unlimited free guests.

25. Families interested in joining the pool are permitted one weekend or weekday visit at no charge. These visitors should identify themselves to the lifeguard.

26. Members are allowed to conduct private parties at the pool. All parties are scheduled on a “first come” basis. There can be only one party at a time. The Events Coordinator must approve all scheduling of parties.

27. Preparations for parties after pool hours can begin at 8 PM. However, party guests are not permitted until 9PM (Closing). All parties must end no later than 12 Midnight. One lifeguard must be present for each 20 guests. A refundable deposit is required to schedule an after-hours party. Failure to leave a deposit will result in a non-refundable charge to the member. At the end of the party, the pool area must be cleaned and all trash taken to a trash bin.

28. During pool hours parties are permitted, but are restricted to no more than 20 guests.

BABY SITTERS
29. A baby sitter is defined as a person at least 13 years of age that is not a parent or sibling, and who has the parent’s permission to bring their children to the pool. In order for the baby-sitter to be allowed to escort children to the pool, a letter from the parents must be presented to the lifeguard. The letter should state the name and age of the baby-sitter, and the phone number of the parents in the event of an emergency. The baby-sitter should stay with the children at all times. There is no visitor’s fee for the baby-sitter.
